We have the same drugs available and some different versions of those families of drugs that we can give in an inhaled form. Your doctor will use the lowest possible dose for as little time as possible to avoid side-effects. If your child is sick again, seek advice from your family doctor, nurse, pharmacist, or hospital.

Tips to reduce the triggers of coughing

You can also eat most foods while taking steroid tablets. Do not eat liquorice while taking prednisolone, however, as this can increase the amount of the medicine in your body. Some medicines interfere with the way steroid tablets work. Tell your doctor if you take any other medicines, including herbal remedies and supplements, before starting steroid tablets.

You can usually continue to use this as normal while you’re pregnant. Steroid tablets may be recommended if you’re pregnant and have severe asthma. This is because the risk to your baby from uncontrolled asthma is higher than from the medication.
